Oooolaf!

Ok, so I guess people all around are into frozen..

Like all birthdays. When you look at baker's portfolio pictures on facebook or instagram, you can be SURE to find at least ONE frozen cake.

Phew!

So I guess it's no wonder that I've already received request(s) for one frozen cake. Oh the (s) is because I got the dates wrong (facepalm!).. Luckily found ready buyer for the cake :) haha phew! So for the actualy order, I figured that I may need to add an olaf on top of the cake. You know, that favorite character for em' kids. At least that's what the birthday girl wanted. Initially wanted to get those ready made figurines from the baker shop..

Oh.. pricey..

Then thought... well, why not I make em' myself!! Hahahahahahahahah... yeah, not as easy as I thought it would be. But definitely FUN!! Something I'd probably venture into again. I have always been afraid of fondant/gumpaste mix. They almost always fail on me (fondant that is).. I just bought the gumpaste after reading how mixing it with fondant would help with getting your sculpture 'hard'.

Yeah, my problem was wilting melted flowers :(

Alas!! Success! Haha although my version had slightly wonky eyes, at least it looked like olaf! :P So happy with the result. I guess all those watching the food channel did not go to waste eh? Used toothpicks as the foundation to keep it steady (and standing!)

Excuse the unfinished cake. Was to sleepy to take a picture of the fully finished one with piped borders and stuff. Had.to.go.to.bed (read=baby crying for milk)

It was after all, in the middle of the night...

xx
